Unnecessarily-Left-Brained thinking...

Daniel Pink in A Whole New Mind says: "And if a picture is worth a thousand words, a metaphor is worth a thousand pictures" (50).

So....
IF
1 picture = 1000 words
AND
1 metaphor = 1000 pictures
THEN
1 metaphor = 1,000,000 words
But...
The metaphor he used to follow that claim was only 34 words...

  2. It really takes a true right brained thinker to write metaphors. I think it took your left brain to make the calculations, correct?

Metaphors paint pictures, right? So what does that mean for your calculations? Does it take a million words to paint a picture or can that comparison/calculation be made?

Was it right brained or left brained of you to make these calculations? Your left brain organized the info and computed the numbers. But didn't it take your right brain to see the need for the calculations in the first place?

    Just thinking...Mary Anne
